A few flicks

So I saw 30 days of night. It took itself way to seriously and was therefore fucking hilarious. Sorry to everyone in the theater for my uncontrollable laughter. So lets see here... Vampires after 1000s of years of existence have just figured out that at the arctic circle it's night for a month, they haven't quite figured out the language, so taunting their prey is kind of ridiculous, our heroes are saved repeatedly by the editor and the subtitle guy, as the editor makes a cut and the subtitled guy fast forwards time by placing "day 7 of night" or "day 14 of night" on the bottom of the screen. But the most amusing piece of the film is the head vampire... who for the entire movie looks like he's surprised and confused about any and all things that he's doing.

"Where am I? Why am I here? What am I doing? What does it all mean!?"

Another piece I saw was Bug a movie by William Friedkin. It is a fantastic trip down psychosis. Very disturbing picture. Stars Ashley Judd, made up to look pretty sad, Harry Conick Jr. as an abusive husband, and a relative unknown, Michael Shannon, playing an incredible character. Taken from a stage play... watch it, but be prepared for an unconventional story.
